The 360 Modena is a sporty berlinetta with a petrol/gasoline engine and rear-wheel drive. The baby Ferrari took part in numerous sporting events with the Challenge version. This new model marked a turning point in the history of Ferrari as it no longer had the classic taut lines like the Ferrari F355. The engine is the new V8 with 5 valves per cylinder, 90° bank angle and capacity increased to 3586 cc, delivering 400 hp at 8500 rpm. Thanks to the use of aluminium, the weight is now 28% less than the F355 despite its larger size.
In 2000, to pay homage to Ferrari President Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, a 360 Barchetta F1 was created as a wedding present. It was a 360 Spider F1 in Grey Alloy colour produced as a one-off.
The last version, from 2003, the Challenge Stradale, had a production run of 1,274 cars and used the coupé bodywork of the Modena version but with certain racing features.

Even the electro-actuated gearchange with paddles on the steering wheel, called the F1, was speeded up from the 200 milliseconds of the Modena to the 150 of the Challenge Stradale and the aerodynamics were improved with a more pronounced front splitter which resulted in an increase of 50% in the downforce compared to the 360 Modena. This special version of the 360 Modena had a precise objective – to give the driver the sensations that only a racing car can offer and to deliver them not just on the track but on the road too.
